Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay or PTC, Open thermal overload protector, Locked rotor compressor, Loose compressor wiring
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer. The compressor area may be hot—allow it to cool before touching. Only qualified persons should test live circuits.
- Access compressor terminals: Remove the rear lower panel to expose the compressor and its start device cover.
- Inspect start device: Remove the plastic cover and check the PTC relay and overload protector for burn marks or rattling pieces. Replace if damaged.
- Check continuity: With power off, test the overload protector and relay for continuity according to Haier specs. Replace if open when they should be closed.
- Compressor test: Measure resistance between compressor terminals. If readings are abnormal or if the compressor is shorted to ground, the compressor is likely failed and requires professional replacement.
- Reassemble and test: Install new start components, reattach the cover, and restore power. If F4 persists with new parts and normal wiring, the main control PCB may be misreading current and need replacement.
