Possible Causes
Seized condenser fan motor, Fan blade obstructed by debris, Open fan motor winding, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before working near the condenser and fan.
- Locate condenser fan: Typically mounted near the compressor, blowing air across the condenser coils.
- Check for obstructions: Remove any dust, plastic, or wiring that may be blocking the fan blade. Spin the blade by hand; it should move freely.
- Test motor: Disconnect the fan motor and measure resistance across its terminals. An open circuit indicates a failed motor.
- Replace fan motor: Remove mounting screws, transfer the fan blade to the new motor, and reinstall. Ensure correct airflow direction.
- Control board check: If the motor tests good but does not receive voltage when the compressor runs, the main control PCB fan output may be defective and require replacement.
