Possible Causes
Mechanical thermostat contacts welded closed (on analog models), Faulty NTC sensor reading too warm, Main control PCB not cycling compressor off
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing controls.
- Verify with thermometer: Place a freezer thermometer inside and compare actual temperature to the setpoint.
- Check thermostat (mechanical models): Turn the temperature knob from coldest to warmest. You should hear a click as it cycles. If the compressor never shuts off, test the thermostat for continuity and replace if stuck closed.
- Sensor models: On electronic models, test the cabinet/freezer NTC sensors for correct resistance. Replace any that are out of spec.
- Control board: If sensors and thermostat are good but the compressor runs continuously, the main control PCB may be faulty and require replacement.
