E8 error and continuous alarm; freezer temperature is too high despite compressor running frequently.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before cleaning coils or accessing the compressor area. Do not attempt to open the sealed refrigeration system yourself.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Verify load and usage: Ensure the freezer is not overloaded with warm food and that the door is not being opened frequently. Allow 24 hours after loading for temperature to stabilize.
- 2. Check door seal: Inspect the Hansa door gasket all around. Look for gaps, tears, or hardened sections. Close the door on a sheet of paper; if it pulls out easily, the seal is weak in that area. Adjust door hinges or replace the gasket if needed.
- 3. Clean condenser: Remove the rear lower cover and vacuum dust from the condenser coil and surrounding area. On models with a front kickplate, remove and clean the front condenser as well.
- 4. Confirm condenser fan operation: On no-frost Hansa freezers with a condenser fan, plug in briefly and check that the fan runs when the compressor is on. If the fan is not running, test for obstructions, then test the fan motor and replace if faulty.
- 5. Check evaporator frost pattern: Remove the inner rear panel and observe the evaporator after 15–20 minutes of compressor operation. A normal system shows even frost across most of the coil. Frost only at the inlet or no frost suggests a sealed system issue (leak or restriction) or a weak compressor, which requires a certified refrigeration technician.
Important: If you suspect a refrigerant leak (oily residue on tubing, hissing, or very poor cooling), stop using the appliance and contact professional service.
