Possible Causes
Normal automatic defrost cycle, Extended defrost due to heavy frost, Control misinterpreting sensor readings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This code often indicates a mode rather than a fault. Confirm in the user manual for your specific Hisense model.
- Wait for cycle completion: Automatic defrost typically lasts 20–40 minutes. During this time, the compressor and fan may stop, and the code may display.
- Check for heavy frost: If the freezer has heavy frost on shelves or the rear panel, the control may extend defrost. After the cycle, inspect for improvement.
- Monitor temperature: Use a thermometer to ensure the freezer returns to normal temperature after defrost. If it does, no repair is needed.
- Reset if stuck: If dF remains for several hours and cooling does not resume, unplug the unit for 10 minutes, then reconnect. If the code returns and cooling is poor, inspect defrost components as in E4/E10.
If the unit remains in defrost and does not cool, there may be a control or sensor fault requiring professional diagnosis.
