Possible Causes

Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Damaged sensor harness from ice buildup, Faulty main control board sensor circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing any internal panels. Use insulated tools.

  • Access the evaporator area: Remove baskets and inner rear panel inside the freezer to expose the evaporator coil and defrost components.
  • Locate the evaporator sensor: The Hisense evaporator NTC is usually clipped to the evaporator tubing or attached with a metal clip or tape.
  • Check mounting and ice: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil. If it is hanging loose or encased in heavy ice, defrost the unit fully (leave unplugged with doors open and towels in place for several hours) and then reattach the sensor properly.
  • Test the sensor: Disconnect the sensor from its connector. Measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to expected NTC values (typically several kΩ at room temperature; resistance decreases as temperature rises). If open or shorted, replace.
  • Inspect wiring: Look for brittle, cracked, or stretched wires near the evaporator where ice expansion can damage insulation. Repair or replace the harness if needed.
  • Reassemble and test: Install a new Hisense-compatible evaporator NTC if faulty. Refit the rear panel, restore power, and monitor if E2 clears.

If the sensor and wiring are good but E2 remains, the main control board may be misreading the sensor and should be evaluated by a technician.
