Possible Causes

Door left open or not sealing, Recent large warm food load, Failed compressor or low refrigerant charge, Evaporator fan not running

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Do not leave the door open longer than necessary; protect stored food.

  • Check door and gasket: Ensure the door is fully closing and the gasket is clean and undamaged. Remove any items blocking closure.
  • Allow recovery time: If you recently loaded a large quantity of unfrozen food or had a power outage, allow 12–24 hours for the temperature to stabilize. Keep the door closed as much as possible.
  • Verify cooling: Listen for the compressor and evaporator fan running. Feel for cold air inside after 1–2 hours of operation. If both are silent, further diagnosis is needed.
  • Check for frost buildup: Heavy frost on the evaporator cover can restrict airflow and cause high temperature. If present, fully defrost the unit.
  • Monitor temperature: Use a freezer thermometer to confirm actual temperature. If it remains above -15°C (5°F) after 24 hours with normal loading, there may be a sealed system or component fault.

If the high temperature alarm persists despite good door sealing and normal operation sounds, contact a technician to check the sealed system and compressor.
