Possible Causes
Failed compressor start relay or PTC, Open thermal overload on compressor, Faulty main control board not sending power, Open wiring to compressor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the compressor area.
- Listen for operation: Plug in the freezer and listen for the compressor starting (a low hum) and the evaporator fan running. If silent, proceed with checks (after unplugging again).
- Check power and controls: Confirm the outlet has power and the control is not in demo or vacation mode. Ensure the temperature setting is not at the warmest position.
- Inspect compressor start components: Remove the rear lower panel. Take off the compressor terminal cover and inspect the start relay/PTC and overload for burns or damage.
- Test continuity: With a multimeter, test the overload protector and start relay as described in the E5 scenario. Replace with Hisense-compatible parts if faulty.
- Check wiring: Ensure all wires to the compressor and main PCB are firmly connected and not damaged.
- Evaluate compressor: If the start components are good but the compressor does not start or trips repeatedly, the compressor may be seized or the sealed system may be compromised.
Sealed system and compressor replacement require specialized tools and should be performed by a licensed refrigeration technician.
