How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before accessing the evaporator area.
- Inspect defrost thermostat: Locate the defrost thermostat on the evaporator. Test for continuity at freezing temperature; it should be closed when cold.
- Check evaporator thermistor: See F3 for testing procedure. Replace if readings are out of range.
- Verify heater operation: During a forced defrost (if available), confirm the heater warms the evaporator. Lack of heating may confuse the control.
- Replace faulty components: Install a new Hitachi defrost thermostat or thermistor as needed.
- Control PCB: If all defrost components test good, replace the main control PCB to correct d2 errors.
