Possible Causes
Out-of-spec freezer thermistor, Poor thermistor placement, Faulty display PCB processing
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working inside the cabinet.
- Compare temperatures: Place an accurate thermometer inside the freezer and compare to the displayed temperature.
- Check thermistor placement: Ensure the freezer thermistor is in its original clip and not touching the evaporator directly unless designed to.
- Test thermistor: Measure resistance and compare to Hitachi's chart. Replace if out of tolerance.
- Inspect display PCB: If the thermistor is correct but E1 persists, the display PCB may be misreading the sensor and should be replaced.
