Ice buildup on freezer floor or under lower baskets

Safety first: Unplug the freezer. Do not chip ice with sharp tools.

• Defrost completely: Remove food to a cooler and leave the door open until all ice melts. Use towels to absorb water.
• Clear drain hole: Access the evaporator area and flush the drain hole with warm water until it flows freely to the drain pan.
• Inspect drain trough: Ensure the trough under the evaporator is not cracked or misaligned.
• Check door gasket: Replace the Hitachi door gasket if it is damaged or not sealing, to reduce warm air infiltration.
