Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain, Cracked drain tube, Overflowing drain pan due to misalignment, Excessive frost melt from frequent door openings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer and mop up any standing water to prevent slipping.
- Locate defrost drain: Inside the freezer, remove the rear panel and find the drain hole beneath the evaporator.
- Clear blockage: Use warm water and a flexible plastic tube or pipe cleaner to clear ice or debris from the drain hole.
- Check drain tube and pan: At the rear bottom, inspect the drain tube leading to the drain pan. Ensure it is properly seated and not cracked.
- Position drain pan: Make sure the drain pan is correctly positioned under the tube and not cracked or overflowing.
- Monitor door usage: Reduce frequent or prolonged door openings that can cause excessive frost and meltwater.
