Possible Causes

Failed condenser NTC sensor, Blocked condenser coils causing overheating, Condenser fan not running (if fitted), Faulty PCB reading of condenser sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the rear compartment. Allow hot components to cool before touching.

  • Clean condenser: Pull the freezer away from the wall. Remove the rear lower panel to expose the condenser coil and fan (if present). Use a soft brush and vacuum to remove dust and lint from the condenser and surrounding area.
  • Check condenser fan: If your Hoover model has a condenser fan, spin the blades by hand (with power off) to ensure they move freely. Check for obstructions. When power is restored later, confirm the fan runs when the compressor is on.
  • Locate condenser sensor: The condenser NTC is often clipped to the condenser tubing or mounted near the compressor. Inspect the sensor and wiring for damage or dislodging.
  • Test sensor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to expected NTC values at room temperature. An open or shorted sensor must be replaced.
  • Replace faulty parts: Install a new condenser temperature sensor (NTC) if readings are incorrect. If the fan is seized or not receiving power, replace the condenser fan motor as needed.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit the rear panel, restore power, and allow several hours for the freezer to stabilize. Confirm that E8 does not reappear and that the compressor and fan cycle normally.

Warning: Persistent E8 with a clean condenser and good sensor may indicate a PCB fault or sealed-system issue; contact a professional technician.
