Possible Causes
Loose connection between display board and main PCB, Faulty display (UI) board, Damaged communication cable, Main PCB communication driver fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect mains power before removing the control panel or display housing.
- Access the display board: Remove screws or clips securing the front/top control panel. Carefully pull the panel forward without straining the wiring.
- Check connectors: Identify the ribbon cable or multi-core harness linking the display board to the main PCB. Unplug and replug the connectors to ensure a solid connection.
- Inspect for damage: Look for cracked solder joints on the display board, corrosion on connectors, or signs of moisture ingress.
- Check cable continuity: If you have a multimeter, test continuity on each conductor of the communication cable between the UI and main PCB.
- Replace faulty UI board: If the cable and main PCB appear fine but F1 persists, replace the user interface / display board with the correct Hoover part.
- Reassemble and test: Refit the control panel, restore power, and verify that the display responds correctly and the F1 code is cleared.
Note: If replacing the UI does not resolve F1, the main control board may be at fault and should be checked by a technician.
