Possible Causes
Damaged touch membrane or keypad, Moisture behind control panel, Loose keypad connector, Faulty UI microcontroller
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before working on the control panel.
- Dry the area: If there are signs of condensation or spills around the control panel, wipe the surface and allow the area to dry completely. Moisture can cause false key presses.
- Remove control panel: Unscrew or unclip the control fascia to access the keypad or touch PCB.
- Inspect keypad membrane: Look for cracks, delamination, or corrosion on the keypad contacts. Check the ribbon cable for kinks or breaks.
- Reseat connectors: Disconnect and reconnect the keypad ribbon cable to the UI board to ensure a good connection.
- Test button response: After reassembly and restoring power, test each button. If some keys still do not respond, the keypad assembly is likely faulty.
- Replace keypad / UI assembly: Install a new keypad membrane or complete UI control panel as specified for your Hoover model.
Warning: Do not spray cleaners directly onto the control panel; spray onto a cloth first to avoid future moisture damage.
