Freezer not cooling at all, interior light works but temperature remains at room level.

Safety: Unplug the Hoover freezer before accessing the compressor area. Do not attempt sealed-system work yourself.

• Listen for compressor: After plugging in, you should hear a low humming from the compressor. Repeated clicking every few minutes without sustained running suggests start issues.
• Check thermostat / controls: Ensure the temperature control is not set to OFF and that any child lock is disabled.
• Access compressor electrics: Remove the rear lower panel and the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Inspect the start relay and overload protector for burn marks or loose connections.
• Test start components: With a multimeter, check continuity through the overload and basic resistance of the PTC relay. Replace them if open or physically damaged.
• Test compressor windings: Measure resistance between compressor pins and to ground. Open or shorted windings indicate a failed compressor.
• Replace parts as needed: Fit a new compressor start relay and overload protector if faulty. If the compressor itself is defective, contact a refrigeration technician for replacement.
