Possible Causes

Failed defrost heater, Defective defrost thermostat or sensor, Faulty defrost control on PCB, Door gasket leaking warm moist air

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the freezer before accessing the evaporator and electrical components.

  • Manual defrost first: Fully defrost the freezer to restore airflow and allow accurate testing.
  • Test defrost heater and thermostat: Access the evaporator and follow the defrost heater and thermostat testing steps (see F4 and E4 scenarios). Replace any open-circuit components.
  • Check door seal: Inspect and replace the door gasket if it is torn or not sealing properly.
  • Verify PCB control: If heater and thermostat are good but no defrost cycles occur, the main PCB may not be initiating defrost and may need replacement.
