Possible Causes
Blocked defrost drain hole, Frozen drain tube, Cracked or displaced drain funnel, Door gasket leaking warm air causing excess frost melt
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before defrosting or working near water. Use towels to catch meltwater.
- Locate drain hole: At the rear of the freezer compartment (often under a small cover) there is a defrost drain hole leading to a tube and drip tray.
- Clear blockage: Use a soft plastic probe or pipe cleaner to gently clear debris from the drain hole. Do not use sharp metal objects.
- Flush with warm water: Using a turkey baster or syringe, flush warm (not boiling) water through the drain until it flows freely into the rear drip tray.
- Check drip tray: At the rear, inspect the drain tube outlet and drip tray above the compressor. Ensure the tube is correctly seated and the tray is not cracked or overflowing.
- Inspect door seal: Check the gasket for gaps that could allow warm air in, causing excess frost and meltwater.
