Hotpoint
Ambient Temperature Sensor Fault
Freezer alarm sounds, temperature fluctuates widely, display may show unrealistic readings

Possible Causes
Failed ambient NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from correct location, Damaged sensor wiring, Control board sensor input fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing any external covers or trims.
Steps:
- Locate ambient sensor: On some Hotpoint freezers, an ambient sensor is located behind the front grille, near the condenser, or in the control housing to monitor room temperature.
- Inspect sensor: Look for a small plastic probe with two wires. Ensure it is not hanging loose or touching hot components.
- Test resistance: Disconnect the sensor and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to expected NTC values; open or short readings indicate failure.
- Check harness: Inspect the wiring from the sensor back to the main control board for damage or loose connectors.
- Replace sensor: Install a new OEM Hotpoint ambient NTC sensor, routing wires away from hot or moving parts.
- Reset and test: Restore power, clear any alarms, and monitor temperature stability over 24 hours.
