Defrost Drain Blockage or Drain Pan Overflow
Freezer leaking water onto floor at front or under unit

Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain tube, Frozen drain hole under evaporator, Cracked or misaligned drain pan, Excessive frost due to door left open
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before working inside or underneath. Water on the floor can be slippery—wipe up spills promptly.
Steps:
- Locate source: Check if water is coming from inside the freezer (front) or from the rear drain pan.
- Clear internal drain: Remove the interior rear panel and locate the drain hole beneath the evaporator. Pour warm (not boiling) water into the hole using a turkey baster or squeeze bottle until it flows freely into the drain pan.
- Check drain tube: From the rear, locate the rubber drain tube leading to the pan. Remove and flush it with warm water to clear debris.
- Inspect drain pan: Ensure the pan is not cracked and is properly positioned under the drain outlet.
- Prevent recurrence: Avoid leaving the door open for long periods, which can cause excessive frost and water.
