Possible Causes
Door left open or not sealing, Heavy warm food load recently added, Failed evaporator fan motor, Defective compressor or low refrigerant charge
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks; unplug only if removing panels.
Immediate actions:
- 1. Check door closure: Ensure the door is fully closed and the gasket is not obstructed by food packages or ice.
- 2. Inspect door gasket: Look for tears, gaps, or warped sections. Close the door on a sheet of paper at several points; if it pulls out easily, the seal is weak.
- 3. Recent loading: If you recently added a large quantity of unfrozen food, the alarm may be normal. Allow 12–24 hours for temperature to stabilize.
- 4. Check internal fan: With the door open, press the door switch (if present) to simulate a closed door. You should hear the evaporator fan running. If not, the fan motor may be faulty.
- 5. Listen for compressor: The compressor should cycle on and off. If it is silent for long periods while the interior is warm, there may be a compressor or control issue.
- 6. Clear ventilation: Ensure the rear and sides of the freezer are not blocked and that the condenser area is clean.
When to call a technician: If the alarm persists for more than 24 hours with no obvious cause, or if the fan or compressor is not running, professional diagnosis of the sealed system and electronics is required.
