Possible Causes

Door left open or not sealing, Recent large load of unfrozen food, Failed compressor, Refrigerant leak in sealed system

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Ensure the door is closed properly to prevent condensation and slipping hazards.

Immediate checks:

  • Verify that the freezer door is fully closed and that no baskets or food packages are preventing a proper seal.
  • Check the door gasket for tears, gaps, or dirt. Clean with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
  • If you have just loaded a large quantity of warm food, allow 12–24 hours for the temperature to stabilize; the alarm may clear automatically.

Functional checks:

  • Listen for the compressor running (a low humming sound) and feel the sides or rear of the cabinet; they should become slightly warm.
  • Check if the internal fan is running when the door is closed (you may hear it stop when opening the door).

If the freezer is not cooling:

  • Inspect the condenser at the rear or underneath for heavy dust; clean with a soft brush and vacuum.
  • If the compressor is hot and running continuously but no cooling occurs, there may be a sealed-system issue (refrigerant leak or blocked capillary). This requires a qualified refrigeration technician.
