Possible Causes
Faulty ambient NTC sensor (if fitted), Damaged sensor wiring near compressor compartment, Connector corrosion at PCB, Sensor dislodged from mounting point
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect from mains before working at the rear of the appliance.
Locate ambient sensor:
- Some Indesit freezers use an ambient NTC sensor near the condenser or compressor area to adjust operation based on room temperature.
- Look for a small probe or plastic-encased sensor attached to the rear metalwork or near the compressor.
Inspection and testing:
- Check that the sensor is intact and not hanging loose or touching hot components directly.
- Inspect the cable for cuts or crushed sections.
- Measure resistance with a multimeter and compare with typical NTC values at room temperature.
Repair:
- Replace a faulty ambient sensor with the correct Indesit NTC part.
- Secure the sensor back in its original location, away from direct heat sources but in free air.
- Ensure the connector at the PCB is clean and firmly seated.
