Possible Causes
Failed magnetic reed door switch, Broken door switch wiring, Misaligned door magnet, Stuck mechanical door switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing any trims.
Locate the door switch:
- On many Indesit freezers, the door switch is located in the top frame or side frame of the cabinet, activated by the door closing.
- It may be a mechanical plunger switch or a hidden magnetic reed switch.
Checks:
- Inspect the door gasket and hinges to ensure the door closes fully and evenly.
- For mechanical switches, press the plunger by hand and listen for a click; test continuity with a multimeter (should change state when pressed).
- For magnetic switches, locate the magnet in the door and ensure it is not loose or missing.
Repair:
- Replace a faulty door switch with the correct Indesit spare.
- Adjust the door hinges if necessary so the door fully engages the switch.
- After replacement, restore power and confirm that the door alarm and interior light behave correctly.
