Normal Refrigerant and Defrost Drain Noises
Freezer makes gurgling, hissing, or dripping sounds periodically, especially after the compressor stops.

Possible Causes
Refrigerant flowing through tubing, Defrost water dripping into drain pan, Expansion and contraction of plastic and metal parts
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No disassembly is usually required. Do not puncture or bend refrigerant lines.
Steps:
- Identify pattern: Gurgling and hissing immediately after compressor shutoff are typically normal refrigerant equalization sounds.
- Check drain pan: Light dripping into the drain pan during or after defrost is normal. Ensure the pan is properly seated and not touching other parts that could amplify noise.
- Secure loose parts: If noises are excessively loud, check that panels and tubing are secure and not vibrating against the cabinet.
Note: These sounds are generally normal for Insignia freezers and do not indicate a fault unless accompanied by cooling issues.
