Possible Causes
Misaligned door, Damaged or weak door gasket, Faulty door switch, Broken or loose door switch wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before working around the door switch or wiring.
- Step 1 – Verify door closure: Check for food packages or shelves preventing the door from closing fully. Remove obstructions and close the door firmly.
- Step 2 – Inspect gasket: Look for gaps between the gasket and cabinet. Use the "paper test": close the door on a sheet of paper; you should feel resistance when pulling it out. If it slides out easily in spots, the gasket may need replacement.
- Step 3 – Check door switch: Locate the door switch (usually in the upper frame area). Press it in by hand; the interior light should turn off and the alarm should stop. If nothing changes, the switch may be defective.
- Step 4 – Reseat wiring: With power disconnected, gently pull the switch out of the liner, inspect the connector for corrosion or loose pins, and reseat it firmly.
- Step 5 – Replace switch if needed: If the alarm only stops when the switch wires are jumped together (test by a qualified person), replace the door switch assembly.
