Possible Causes
Loose or damaged user interface ribbon cable, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Failed user interface board, Failed main control board communication circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or touching any electronic boards.
- Step 1 – Power reset: Unplug the freezer for 5–10 minutes, then plug it back in. Sometimes this clears a temporary communication fault.
- Step 2 – Inspect control panel: Check for signs of moisture, condensation, or physical damage on the display and keypad area.
- Step 3 – Access UI connections: Remove the control housing cover (usually at the top front of the compartment or on the door). Inspect the ribbon cable or harness between the user interface and main control board.
- Step 4 – Reseat ribbon cable: Carefully unplug and reinsert the ribbon cable, ensuring it is fully seated and not kinked or torn.
- Step 5 – Replace UI or main board: If E6 remains and the cable is intact, either the user interface board or main control board is defective. Replacement should follow JennAir service procedures and may be best left to a technician.
