Possible Causes
Recent household power outage, Freezer unplugged or loose power cord, Tripped circuit breaker, Faulty wall outlet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Always disconnect power at the wall outlet or breaker before removing panels or working near wiring.
This code usually indicates the freezer detected a power loss and that the temperature rose above the normal range.
- Step 1 – Verify power is stable: Confirm other appliances on the same circuit are working. Reset any tripped breaker and ensure the freezer plug is fully inserted into a grounded outlet.
- Step 2 – Check door closure: Make sure the freezer door is fully closing and the gasket is sealing all around. A door left ajar during the outage can worsen temperature rise.
- Step 3 – Clear the alarm: On most JennAir freezers, press and hold the Alarm Reset or Power button for 3–5 seconds to clear the PO code. Refer to the user interface legend on the control panel.
- Step 4 – Monitor temperature: Place a freezer thermometer inside and verify the temperature returns to around 0°F (-18°C) within several hours. Avoid opening the door frequently while it cools down.
- Step 5 – If PO returns repeatedly: Have an electrician check the outlet for loose wiring or low voltage. If the freezer loses power while other devices do not, the power cord or internal wiring harness may be damaged and should be inspected by a technician.
