Possible Causes
Normal pressure equalization, Misaligned door hinges, Warped door gasket, Freezer not level
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use caution when adjusting leveling legs; avoid tipping the unit.
- Step 1 – Understand vacuum effect: It is normal for the door to be harder to open for a few seconds after closing due to pressure equalization.
- Step 2 – Check level: Ensure the freezer is slightly tilted back so the door closes by itself. Adjust front leveling legs as needed.
- Step 3 – Inspect hinges: Tighten any loose hinge screws and verify the door is square to the cabinet.
- Step 4 – Check gasket: If the door pops open, the gasket may be warped. Warm the gasket gently with a hair dryer and reshape it, or replace if necessary.
