Possible Causes
Dirty condenser coils, Weak compressor, Low refrigerant charge or sealed system leak, Evaporator fan not moving enough air
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before cleaning coils or accessing fans.
- Step 1 – Clean condenser coils: Move the freezer away from the wall. Remove the lower rear or front grille and use a coil brush and vacuum to remove dust from the coils and condenser fan area.
- Step 2 – Check door gasket: Inspect for gaps or tears. Replace if the gasket does not seal all around, as warm air infiltration reduces cooling.
- Step 3 – Verify evaporator frost pattern: If comfortable, remove the interior rear panel and inspect the evaporator. A light, even frost is normal. A solid ice block or only a small patch of frost indicates a defrost or sealed system problem.
- Step 4 – Allow 24 hours: After cleaning and correcting airflow, allow up to 24 hours for temperature to stabilize. Minimize door openings.
- Step 5 – If still warm: A weak compressor or refrigerant issue is likely and requires a certified refrigeration technician.
