Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain, Drain heater (if equipped) not working, Misaligned drain trough, Food debris in drain hole
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before working inside.
- Step 1 – Remove ice: Chip away loose ice carefully with a plastic scraper and use towels to soak up water.
- Step 2 – Access drain: Remove the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator and drain trough. Locate the drain hole at the center or rear.
- Step 3 – Melt blockage: Use a turkey baster with warm water to flush the drain until water flows freely into the drain pan below.
- Step 4 – Clear tube: From the rear, gently insert a flexible brush or tubing into the drain line to remove any remaining debris.
- Step 5 – Reassemble and monitor: Reinstall panels and monitor for recurrence. If the drain repeatedly freezes, a drain heater kit (if available for your JennAir model) may be needed.
