• 1. Access rear service panel: Pull the freezer away from the wall and remove the lower rear panel to expose the compressor, start device, and control board.

• 3. Inspect start relay/overload: Remove the start device from the compressor terminals. Check for burnt smell, rattling pieces inside, or melted housing.
• 4. Test start device: Use a multimeter to check continuity across the relay/PTC as specified for your model. If open or physically damaged, replace it with a Kenmore-compatible compressor start device.
• 5. Check wiring and connectors: Ensure all harness plugs to the compressor, inverter (if present), and main control are fully seated and not heat-damaged.
• 6. Reassemble and test: Reinstall the start device, restore power, and monitor whether the compressor starts and E6 clears.

Important: If the compressor hums and then clicks off even with a new start device, or if the inverter board shows burn marks, the compressor or inverter may be failing. Sealed system and inverter repairs should be handled by a qualified technician.
