Possible Causes
Door left open or not sealing, Recent large warm food load, Failed evaporator fan motor, Weak compressor or low refrigerant charge, Defrost system stuck on
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not leave the door open longer than necessary; protect perishable food during troubleshooting.
Steps to address H1/HI:
- 1. Check door seal: Inspect the door gasket for gaps, tears, or debris. Clean the gasket and cabinet mating surface with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. Ensure the door closes fully and latches.
- 2. Consider recent use: If you recently loaded a large quantity of unfrozen food or had a power outage, the high temp alarm may be normal. Allow 12–24 hours for temperature to recover.
- 3. Verify fan operation: Listen for the evaporator fan running when the door is closed (press the door switch to simulate closed door). If silent, see fan-related faults.
- 4. Check for frost buildup: Look at the back interior wall for heavy frost or ice. If present, the defrost system may be failing, restricting airflow.
- 5. Confirm compressor operation: From the rear, verify that the compressor and condenser fan are running and that the condenser coils are warm.
- 6. Reset alarm: Use the control panel to silence or reset the alarm per the user manual. If the temperature returns to normal and the alarm does not recur, no further action may be needed.
When to call a technician: If the freezer cannot reach set temperature within 24 hours, or if the compressor runs continuously without adequate cooling, a sealed system or control issue may be present and requires professional service.
