Freezer runs constantly and rarely shuts off; interior may be cold but unit never seems to cycle.

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before cleaning coils or adjusting components.

Steps to reduce run time:

• 1. Check ambient conditions: If the freezer is in a hot room or near a heat source, it will run longer. Ensure adequate clearance around the cabinet for airflow.
• 2. Inspect and clean condenser: Clean dust from condenser coils and ensure the condenser fan (if present) is running.
• 3. Inspect door gasket: Look for frost near the door area, which indicates air leaks. Replace a damaged gasket.
• 4. Verify temperature setting: Set to a moderate level (around 0°F). Extremely low settings will cause long run times.
• 5. Check thermostat/sensor: If the compressor never shuts off even when interior is very cold, the thermostat or thermistor may not be signaling the control to stop. Test and replace as needed.

Note: Some run time increase is normal after large warm food loads or frequent door openings.
