Possible Causes
Clogged defrost drain, Cracked drain tube, Excessive frost melt from door left open, Condensation pan overflow or misalignment
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing panels. Mop up water promptly to prevent slips.
Steps to stop leaking:
- 1. Identify source: Check if water is coming from the front (door area) or rear/bottom (drain area).
- 2. Inspect defrost drain: Remove the interior rear panel and locate the drain hole beneath the evaporator. If iced over, thaw with warm water and a turkey baster until water flows freely.
- 3. Clear drain tube: From the rear, locate the drain tube leading to the drain pan. Use a flexible brush or pipe cleaner to remove debris.
- 4. Check drain pan: Ensure the pan is properly positioned under the drain tube and not cracked. Replace if damaged.
- 5. Verify door seal: A poor door seal can cause excessive frost and water during defrost. Replace the gasket if needed.
Note: Do not use sharp tools to clear the drain; you can puncture the liner or tubing.
