Possible Causes
Door not fully closed, Obstruction preventing door from sealing, Defective door switch, Misaligned or damaged door gasket
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: You can troubleshoot the door and gasket with power on, but disconnect power before removing any switch or wiring.
- Step 1 – Check for obstructions: Inspect shelves and food packages near the door. Reposition items so the door can close freely without resistance.
- Step 2 – Inspect gasket: Run your hand around the door gasket to feel for gaps. Look for tears, hardened sections, or areas not contacting the cabinet. Clean the gasket with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly.
- Step 3 – Test door switch: Open the door and locate the door switch (usually near the top or side frame). Press it in by hand; the interior light should turn off and the alarm should silence after a few seconds. If nothing changes, the switch may be faulty.
- Step 4 – Temporary bypass test (advanced): Unplug the freezer. Remove the switch from the liner and disconnect the wires. Briefly connect the two switch wires together with an insulated jumper, then restore power. If the dO alarm clears, replace the door switch. Do not leave the jumper installed permanently.
If the alarm persists with a known-good switch and proper door closure, the wiring harness or control board may be at fault and should be checked by a professional.
