Freezer is making a loud buzzing or humming noise from the back.

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing panels or touching moving parts.

• Step 1 – Locate noise source: Pull the freezer away from the wall and remove the rear lower panel. Identify whether the noise comes from the fan or compressor.
• Step 2 – Check condenser fan: Inspect the fan blades for debris or bent blades rubbing on shrouds. Clear obstructions and gently straighten blades if needed.
• Step 3 – Secure components: Tighten any loose mounting screws on the fan bracket or compressor mounting springs.
• Step 4 – Isolate tubing: Look for refrigerant lines touching each other or the cabinet. Gently bend them away and insert foam or rubber spacers to prevent vibration.

If the noise is internal to the compressor (loud knocking or grinding), the compressor may be failing and should be evaluated by a technician.
