Possible Causes
Freezer is in automatic defrost cycle, Display configured to show defrost status, User misinterpreting status code as fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Note: On some Leisure frost-free freezers, dF or DEF is not an error but an indication that the appliance is in a scheduled defrost cycle.
Steps:
- 1. Observe duration: A normal defrost cycle typically lasts 15–45 minutes. During this time, the compressor and internal fan may stop, and dF may appear.
- 2. Do not unplug: Allow the freezer to complete the defrost cycle. The code should clear automatically and cooling will resume.
- 3. Check manual: Confirm in your Leisure user manual whether dF is a status indication. If the code persists for several hours and the freezer warms significantly, then treat it as a potential defrost fault (see E4).
- 4. If dF never clears: Power cycle the unit. If the code returns immediately and cooling does not resume, the main control PCB or defrost sensor may be faulty and require professional diagnosis.
