Possible Causes

Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstruction around fan blades, Broken fan wiring harness, Faulty fan driver circuit on main control PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect mains power before removing internal panels. Beware of sharp evaporator fins.

Steps to resolve E6 (evaporator fan):

  • 1. Confirm fan operation: After the door has been closed for several minutes, you should normally hear the internal fan running. If silent and E6 is displayed, proceed with checks.
  • 2. Access fan assembly: Remove drawers and the rear inner panel in the freezer compartment to expose the evaporator and fan housing.
  • 3. Check for ice blockage: Look for heavy ice around the fan blades or shroud. If present, perform a full manual defrost until all ice is cleared. Do not force the fan blades.
  • 4. Inspect wiring and connector: Verify that the fan motor connector is firmly seated and that wires are not cut or pinched.
  • 5. Test fan motor: With the freezer unplugged, disconnect the fan and measure coil resistance. An open circuit indicates a failed motor. If you have a safe low-voltage test rig and the motor is rated accordingly, you can bench-test it, but do not apply mains voltage directly unless specified.
  • 6. Replace fan motor if faulty: Install a new Leisure evaporator fan motor and transfer the fan blade if it is a separate part. Ensure the blade spins freely and is correctly oriented.
  • 7. Reassemble and test: Refit the evaporator cover, restore power, and listen for the fan after the compressor starts. The E6 code should clear once the control detects fan feedback.
  • 8. If fan is good but still no operation: The main control PCB fan driver may be defective. PCB replacement is required and is best handled by a professional.
