Possible Causes
Stuck mechanical thermostat (on older Leisure chest freezers), Faulty electronic temperature sensor, Main PCB not cycling compressor off, Miscalibrated control knob or display
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing the thermostat or control PCB.
Steps:
- 1. Check setting: Ensure the control is not set to maximum or super-freeze mode continuously.
- 2. Mechanical thermostat models: On chest freezers with a dial, access the thermostat behind the control panel. Test continuity; it should open when the sensing bulb is warmed slightly. Replace the Leisure freezer thermostat if it remains closed.
- 3. Electronic models: Test the cabinet NTC sensor and replace if misreading (see E1 procedure).
- 4. If compressor never cycles off despite correct sensor readings: The main control PCB relay may be stuck and require PCB replacement.
