Possible Causes

Defective freezer temperature sensor (thermistor), Open or shorted thermistor wiring harness, Corroded or loose thermistor connector at main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing panels or handling wiring. Use insulated tools and avoid touching live circuits.

This code usually indicates the freezer compartment thermistor is out of range or not being detected.

  • Power reset: Unplug the freezer for 5 minutes, then plug it back in to see if the code clears. If it returns, continue.
  • Locate the freezer sensor: Inside the freezer, look for a small plastic-covered sensor on the rear or side wall (often clipped to the liner or behind a small cover). Remove the cover if present.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the sensor wires for cuts, pinches, or signs of ice damage. Ensure the connector is fully seated and not corroded.
  • Check resistance (advanced DIY): With the unit unplugged, disconnect the thermistor from the harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. At around 0°C (32°F), many LG thermistors read roughly 5–10 kΩ (check service data if available). An open circuit (infinite) or near 0 Ω indicates a bad sensor.
  • Replace if faulty: If the thermistor is out of spec or physically damaged, replace it with an LG-compatible freezer thermistor. Route the new sensor wiring along the original path and secure it away from moving parts or sharp edges.
  • Check main PCB connection: If the sensor tests good, remove the rear access panel, locate the main control board, and verify the thermistor harness is firmly connected and not burnt or discolored.

If the error persists with a known-good sensor and wiring, the main control board may be defective and should be diagnosed by a professional.
