Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
On LG fridge-freezer combos, an E2 sensor fault in the fresh food section can affect freezer operation.
- Reset control: Unplug for 5–10 minutes and reconnect. If E2 returns, proceed.
- Locate fresh food sensor: Inside the refrigerator section, find the small sensor housing on the rear or side wall. Remove the cover carefully.
- Visual inspection: Check for moisture intrusion, ice buildup, or damaged wiring. Make sure the connector is tight.
- Test thermistor: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to LG specifications (typically several kΩ at room temperature). Replace if open, shorted, or far out of spec.
- Reassemble and test: Install the new sensor, secure wiring, restore power, and monitor for code recurrence.
If the sensor and wiring are good but E2 persists, the main control board may need replacement by a technician.
