Possible Causes

Failed ice maker fan motor, Ice buildup around ice fan housing, Loose or damaged fan wiring, Faulty main PCB fan output

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance before accessing the ice maker compartment.

IF indicates the ice room fan is not operating correctly.

  • Access ice fan: Remove the ice bin and any covers to reach the ice maker fan housing.
  • Check for frost: Look for frost or ice blocking the fan. Defrost the area completely using warm air (hair dryer on low, kept moving and away from plastic) or room-temperature air. Do not overheat plastic parts.
  • Spin test: Gently spin the fan blades. If stiff or noisy, replace the fan motor.
  • Inspect wiring: Verify the fan connector is fully seated and wires are not damaged.
  • Reassemble and test: After replacing the fan if needed, reassemble the ice room, restore power, and monitor ice production.

If IF returns with a known-good fan and wiring, the main control board may be at fault and should be checked by a technician.
