How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the freezer before removing panels. Be cautious of sharp metal edges.
- Manual defrost: Remove food, take off the rear interior panel, and allow all ice to melt. Use towels and a fan; avoid sharp tools.
- Test defrost heater: Disconnect heater leads and check continuity with a multimeter. Replace if open.
- Check defrost thermostat/fuse: Test for continuity when cold. Replace if open.
- Inspect defrost sensor: Measure resistance at cold temperature; replace if out of spec.
If all defrost components test good, the main control board may not be initiating defrost and should be diagnosed by a technician.
