Possible Causes

Frozen or kinked water line to ice maker, Faulty ice maker motor module, Defective ice level sensor, Failed water inlet valve

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance and shut off the water supply before working on the ice maker or water lines.

  • Check ice maker switch: Ensure the ice maker is turned on via the control panel or switch.
  • Inspect water line: Verify the water line to the freezer is not kinked or frozen. Thaw gently if frozen.
  • Test fill: On many LG models, a test button on the ice maker can be pressed to initiate a cycle. Observe if water fills the tray.
  • Check inlet valve: If no water enters, test the water inlet valve coil for continuity and replace if open.
  • Replace ice maker: If the motor does not cycle or the mold heater fails, replace the ice maker assembly with an LG-compatible unit.

If water supply and ice maker assembly are good but no ice is produced, the main PCB or wiring may be at fault and should be checked by a technician.
