Possible Causes

Defective cabinet NTC temperature sensor, Broken or loose NTC wiring harness, Corroded sensor connector on main PCB, Main control board misreading sensor signal

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the freezer from the mains before removing any panels. Do not work on live circuits.

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E1 clears and does not return, it may have been a temporary glitch.
  • Locate the cabinet sensor: On most Logik freezers, the cabinet NTC is clipped behind the inner liner (often near the top or rear wall) or inside a small plastic cover. Remove the cover carefully.
  • Inspect wiring: Check the two-wire harness from the sensor to the main control board for cuts, pinches, or burn marks. Reseat any loose connectors firmly.
  • Check sensor resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. At around -18°C, many NTCs read roughly 20–50 kΩ (check service sheet if available). An open circuit (OL) or 0 Ω indicates a failed sensor.
  • Replace the sensor: If readings are out of range or intermittent when you gently flex the wire, replace the cabinet NTC temperature sensor. Route the new sensor along the original path and secure it away from moving parts or sharp edges.
  • Reassemble and test: Refit covers, restore power, and monitor the display. The E1 code should clear after a short run period and the freezer should begin cooling normally.

When to call a technician: If the sensor and wiring test good but E1 persists, the main control board may be faulty and should be diagnosed or replaced by a professional.
