Possible Causes
Oil migration in compressor from laying unit on its side, Start relay failure triggered by movement, Loose internal wiring connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Do not attempt to run a freezer immediately after it has been on its side or back.
Steps:
- Let it stand upright: After moving, leave the freezer upright and unplugged for at least 4–24 hours (longer if it was on its side) to allow compressor oil to settle.
- Then plug in and test: After the rest period, plug in and set to a cold setting. Listen for compressor start.
- Check start relay and wiring: If it still does not start, inspect the start relay and wiring as described in compressor-related entries.
Note: Running the compressor too soon after transport can cause damage; always allow adequate settling time.
