Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the control board or heater wiring.
- Allow cycle to complete: dF may simply indicate an active defrost cycle. Wait 20–30 minutes to see if the code clears and cooling resumes.
- Power reset: Unplug the freezer for 10 minutes, then plug back in. Monitor if dF reappears and if the compressor restarts.
- Inspect control board: Access the electronic control board and look for burned spots near the defrost relay. Replace the board if damage is visible.
- Check heater circuit: Test the defrost heater and wiring for shorts to ground. Repair any damaged wiring.
