Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice obstructing fan blades, Loose or damaged fan wiring, Faulty control board fan driver
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the freezer before removing interior panels or touching the fan.
- Listen for fan: After the compressor has been running for several minutes, you should hear the evaporator fan inside. If silent, proceed.
- Access fan: Remove the interior back panel to expose the evaporator and fan assembly.
- Check for ice blockage: If the fan is encased in ice, defrost the unit completely and check the defrost system for faults.
- Spin test: Try turning the fan blades by hand. If stiff or seized, replace the fan motor.
- Electrical test: With power disconnected, check continuity of the fan motor. If open, replace the motor. Inspect wiring for damage.
- Control board: If the fan motor tests good but never receives power, the electronic control board may be defective.
