Possible Causes
Recent power outage, Freezer door left open after power restored, Warm food loaded immediately after power return
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This is an informational alert, not an electrical fault. You can silence and clear it safely.
- Confirm power is stable: Make sure the outlet has power and the freezer is running (you should hear the compressor or fans cycle on periodically).
- Check door seal: Verify the freezer door is fully closing and the gasket is not obstructed by food packages or ice.
- Clear the PO code: On most Maytag freezers, press and hold the Alarm Reset or Measure Fill/Alarm button (model dependent) for 3–5 seconds until the code clears.
- Check temperature: Use a separate freezer thermometer. If temperature is above 0°F (-18°C), set the control to a colder setting and allow 24 hours to stabilize.
- Food safety: If food has thawed and refrozen, discard anything questionable according to food safety guidelines.
